King Fuad's Nile Steamer

For many, the image of a Nile cruise was set by the classic 1978 film of Agatha Christie's
'Death on the Nile', starring Peter Ustinov, David Niven, Bette Davis and Maggie Smith which recreated a leisurely turn-of-the-century sailing on a Nile paddle steamer. Following on a very successful Winter 2002/03 season we are delighted to repeat a similar arrangement on one such vessel, the SS Karim, previously retained for private use by the Kings and Presidents of Egypt and now reserved exclusively for the guests of Voyages Jules Verne. Accommodating just 30 travellers in some comfort this is a rare opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the river and the ancient civilisation of Egypt in an atmosphere of period elegance. As you glide down the tranquil waters at a stately pace a tableau of rich vegetation unfolds, hugging the banks of this ancient river, with the arid mountains of the desert apparently only a short distance away. Further to requests from our clients, we have additionally secured a private charter flight from Gatwick to Aswan, the only such flight from the United Kingdom, allowing for a quieter cruising itinerary running contrary to the main flow of Nile cruises that commence in Luxor. The arrangement also allows for a further week in the Nubian capital staying at the renowned Old Cataract Hotel
