Swiss International Air Lines has been named “Europe’s Leading Airline Business Class” in this year’s World Travel Awards. The distinction is based on the votes of more than 183,000 specialists from the travel and tourism sector all over the world. Swiss’s earning of this prestigious industry award coincides with the completion of the carrier’s programme to retrofit its new Business Class cabin into all 15 of its Airbus A340s and the withdrawal from service of its last Airbus A330-200. As a result, the advanced new SWISS Business Class is now installed on all the company’s long-haul aircraft, setting new quality benchmarks in cabin interior terms.
Swiss travellers can now enjoy the delights of the new Swiss Business cabin on all long-haul flights. The new Business Class is one element in Swiss’s extensive programme of investments in its product and its aircraft fleet which began with the service entry of the first of its ten new Airbus A330-300 long-haul twinjets in spring 2009. The centrepiece of the new long-haul Swiss Business Class is the seat, which reclines into a two-metre-long lie-flat air-cushioned bed. As well as its individually-adjustable firmness/softness settings, the seat boasts a special massage function to keep travellers rested and relaxed inflight.
A further striking feature of the new Business Class cabin is its innovative seating arrangement, which provides eight of every nine seats with direct aisle access. The new cabin thus offers SWISS Business travellers both outstanding seating and sleeping comfort and optimum personal space.
With the withdrawal from service of its last Airbus A330-200, SWISS has also become the only airline in Europe to offer a three-class cabin product – First, Business and Economy – on all its intercontinental flights. |
