MENAFN Austrian Airlines said that it plans to start two weekly flights from Vienna to Arbil in northern Iraq on March 9, making it the first European airline with a regular service to Iraq, Reuters reported.
The company will expand the schedule to the Kurdish city to three flights in May, and it expects passengers mainly from Europe and North America to fly to Iraq via Vienna.
Partly state-owned Austrian Airlines serves a large network of routes into Eastern Europe and the Balkans. It was the first European airline to start services to Sarajevo and Pristina after the civil war in the former Yugoslavia. |
