Japan has granted Jordan a soft loan of US$70 million to finance seven tourist projects, the Japanese embassy said.
The inauguration ceremony was of a museum in Karak castle, 150 km south of Amman, and was part of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
It was attended by Japan's parliamentary secretary for foreign affairs, Kazunori Tanaka, and the Japanese ambassador Koichi Obata.
An embassy statement said the loan would "help renovate and modernize major tourist landmarks in Jordan", including Amman's downtown tourist zone, Raghadan bus terminal and the National Museum.
Other projects included a panoramic complex at the Dead Sea and the historic old city of Salt, the embassy said. |
