Royal Jordanian volunteered to transport Jordanian medical aid shipment on its first flight to Benghazi, which took off on Sept. 15 at 11:00 am. The company resumed its regular service to Benghazi, having suspended it after the turmoil that erupted in Libya last February.

RJ president/CEO Hussein Dabbas said that the shipment included large quantities of pharmaceuticals donated by the Hashemite Charity Commission and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC. to support the Libyan citizens.

RJ also volunteered to transport a number of wounded Libyans who received medical treatment at the Jordanian hospitals recently, in coordination with the Hashemite Charity Commission.

Dabbas expressed satisfaction that the RJ A310 aircraft is the first Arab aircraft that landed at Benghazi International Airport, after the latter started receiving flights on September 13. 

According to the RJ president, reconnecting Amman and Benghazi will contribute to Libyan, Arab and global efforts to re-build Libya. He expressed the airline’s readiness to fly to this Libyan city almost daily in response to strong demand on travel between Jordan and Libya at the coming stage.

Dabbas expected that RJ will resume its operations to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, before the end of this month once Tripoli International Airport ensures preparedness to receive flights and provide passengers and aircraft with air and ground services.
