Royal Jordanian will resume its flights to Benghazi on Thursday.
The move is further evidence of Libya's situation stabilising, with Turkish Airlines restarting Benghazi services today (click here).
Royal Jordanian President and CEO Hussein Dabbas said that the company took this decision after it obtained all the necessary approvals from the concerned authorities to restart operating to Benghazi, adding that it will fly to the Libyan city "almost daily" in response to strong travel demand between Jordan and Libya.
Benghazi flights depart Amman 1100 and arrive at 1310, before departing Benghazi at 1430 and reaching Amman at 1820.
Dabbas added that he expects RJ to resume its flights to the capital, Tripoli, in September, after ensuring it is safe to fly there and Tripoli International Airport can accommodate flights.
He stressed the importance of reconnecting Jordan and Libya through regular flights, as it would ease the burden on citizens travelling overland to Tunisia and Egypt.
The company suspended its operations to Tripoli and Benghazi after the turmoil that erupted in Libya last February. |
