Whilst carrying out routine maintenance on the thermal pool at Jordan’s Evason Ma’in Hot Springs & Six Senses Spa, another boiling hot spring was unearthed behind the spa’s waterfall.
The new hot spring, which has a temperature of around 75°C and is thought to be over 1000 years old, has never before been exposed to the elements. Staff at Jordan’s leading resort are working around the clock to direct this new spring straight into the thermal pool with a view to raising its temperature by as much as 7°C.
The 75°C temperature makes this one of the hottest springs to have been discovered in the area with a majority of springs reaching a maximum temperature of around 45°C. This finding brings the total number of thermal springs to 65 in the Northern part of Wadi Zarqa.
Commenting on this amazing find, Evason Ma’in Hot Springs & Six Senses Spa general manager Manish Puri said: “This is such a wonderful discovery and its timing couldn’t be better. We are coming up to the winter season, a popular time of year for our thermal hot springs as the weather gets colder. We have been told by experts that this winter our thermal pools will undoubtedly see an increase in temperature of around 6 to 7°C with the addition of this new hot spring.”
Thermal pools are one of nature’s purest phenomenon and offer countless benefits to anyone who bathes in them. The different gases present in the pools have a number of healing, medicinal and therapeutic properties such as enhancing blood circulation and the central nervous system which in turn assist with cases of stomach, kidney, respiratory, intestinal, rheumatic and heart diseases. The bromide, which exists in the pool, acts as a tranquilising agent to help relaxation.
