33rd Germany Travel Mart 2007

The success story of the Germany Travel Mart (GTM), the sales event for Germany's incoming tourism industry, began in 1972. Organized by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) and designed especially for the travel industry, the GTM has grown from 62 German exhibitors and 51 buyers from eleven countries in its inaugural year to 366 suppliers and 650 international participants from 45 countries in 2007, making it the world's most important B2B marketplace for Germany's incoming tourism industry.
Exhibitors and buyers use this platform to develop and strengthen contacts, hold business meetings, find out information at exhibitor presentations, explore new business opportunities and close deals.
According to a representative survey of exhibitors in 2006, more than 80 percent of the representatives of the German tourism industry are repeat visitors to the international workshop. 82 per cent were planning to attend this year's GTM 2007 in Berlin and Potsdam. More than half those questioned said that their expectation of gathering valuable market information at the event had been met. More than two thirds (67 per cent) were satisfied with the way they were able to renew existing contacts, while half the exhibitors said they were able to acquire as many new contacts as they had expected.
The GTM has now become the most important tool in the GNTB's portfolio of sales and marketing activities. The event enables the GNTB to offer all organizations across the spectrum of tourism service providers – particularly medium-sized businesses – an opportunity each year to make direct contact with travel industry suppliers from all over the world. Staged in partnership with this year's host cities Berlin and Potsdam, as well as Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn, the GTM is Germany's largest event for the inbound tourism industry. It is complemented by GNTB stands at trade fairs in the main source markets, workshops for travel industry professionals, road shows, sales meetings and publications such as the “Booking Germany” sales guide. |
