www.thts.com.my For Muslims, there is always concern before embarking on an overseas trip, especially to non-Muslim countries. Getting halal food, keeping the daily prayers and participating in healthy activities is what is looked for in a travel itinerary.Malaysia-based TH Travel and Services, a subsidiary of Tabung Haji, addresses these issues through tour packages for Muslims to non-Muslim countries. It believes that itineraries and activities in its packages should correspond with Islamic guidelines, hence its focus on the Muslim travel market. TH Travel chief executive officer Major (R) Mohd Ramli Othman said the company aims to be the leading provider of Islamic travel solutions. “Given our proven track record, we provide more and better services based on our strengths in comfort, credibility and confidence.” He said the agency specialised in Islamic travel to be consistent with the image of its parent company, the main player in the haj pilgrimage programme. He said that the overall packages offered by the company covered spiritual, business and recreational forms of travel. He added that the Islamic travel concept was a fast expanding market with more Muslims having disposable income, hence the purchasing power to go on holidays. The holiday packages were designed to meet Islamic principles, which covered the choice of airlines, accommodation, tour guides, food and itineraries. “For instance, when it comes to food, it doesn’t only mean that the restaurant does not serve pork. The ingredients must also be halal, the meat slaughtered halal, the packaging halal. “We are very particular about our solat (prayer) times and activities are planned around them.”
