www.nst.com “It is not the Tourism Ministry’s Visit Malaysia Year, it is everybody’s. So let us join hands to make sure every tourist has a memorable visit to our country,” he said when launching the KL Hop-On-Hop-Off City Tour bus service at Malaysia Tourism Centre recently.
Specifically citing the recent Christmas festivities in Kuala Lumpur, he said it lacked the liveliness of the celebration in Singapore or even Jakarta.
“Let’s liven up the place for our visitors in this New Year and make things happen,” he said.
The Hop-On-Hop-Off City Tour service will ferry tourists to and from 42 places of interest such as Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the National Monument.
The double-decker bus is equipped with headphones and passengers can listen to piped-in commentaries in eight languages about the various tourist spots.
Passengers can get on and off at any of the selected spots along the bus circuit. The buses will also stop at more than 100 hotels in the city centre.
The full-fare ticket costs RM38 and includes an information booklet and a map of Kuala Lumpur. It is valid for the whole day service between 8.30am and 8.30pm.
Group bookings of five or more will get a discount of RM5. Senior citizens, students and the disabled get a special rate of RM17 while children below five get free rides. During school holidays, adult Mykad holders need only pay RM19.
Tickets can be bought on the bus, at appointed travel agencies, major hotels or on-line at www.myhoponhopoff.com.
KL Hop-On-Hop-Off City Tour is operated by Elang Wah Sdn Bhd. Its managing director Syed Azhar Syed Nadzir said it has four buses right now but plans to increase the fleet to 10 if the response is good.
