www.nst.com We have heard of Jules Verne’s Around The World In 80 Days, but have you heard of ‘Adventure Community Malaysia World Journey’?
This is an ambitious project where five Malaysians will embark on an adventure to 50 countries in eight months early next year.
Their mission? To promote Malaysian adventure products to the people of the various countries.
Event organiser Ahmad Kamil Mohd of Paxiimej (M) Sendirian Berhad says the five are expected to leave for Asia and Europe after first touring Malaysia, either in January or February.
‘The tour will kick off in Selangor because the State is the home of sports tourism. Some of the adventure events the group will be promoting are caving, mountain climbing, kayaking, abseiling, go-kart, camping and extreme games,’ said Ahmad Kamil who is also the president of Malaysian Sports Council.
Launching the three-month publicity campaign for the event was State Assemblyman for Paya Jaras Mohamad Bushro Mat Johor who represented Selangor State Executive Councillor for Education, Sports and Human Development Datuk Ahmad Nawawi Datuk M. Zin.
The five adventurers are Suhaimi Joleman, Chear Kin Keong, Hashim Abu Hanifah, Antonia Patricia Guan and a freelance journalist.
‘We are having this event in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and the 50th National Day next year,’ said Ahmad Kamil. ‘We want to tell the world that Malaysia is also an adventure destination and is a beautiful country made up of a multi-racial society where people live in peace and harmony.’
There will also be an Adventure Community Malaysia World Journey slogan-writing competition and a Discover Selangor treasure hunt with prizes of RM10,000 in cash and more.
