Aleppo: historic legacy attracts visitors

Aleppo is the capital city of the country’s northern region.
It is situated between the Mediterranean and the Euphrates basin, where caravans passed through to all corners of the world.
Syria’s northern region attracts visitors and tourists who are interested in history, archaeology, antiquities and art.
This region is also known for its so- called Forgotten Cities or Dead Kingdoms. Bara, Serjila, Qalb Lawzeh, Aqraba, Nabol and Sita Monastery are some of the treasures of the Dead Cities The church of Qalb Lawzehس, on the top of Barisha mountain near the city of Idleb in the north of Syria, is described by historians as a civilization carved in the rock insubordinate to oblivion and death
The church, which occupies an area of land estimated at more than 300 square meters, is one of the most beautiful archaeological churches in Syria. It was built late in the fifth century A.D.
The road, which leads you from Idleb to Qalb Lawzehس is itself an integral part of the rich history of Idleb whose Forgotten Kingdom as they are called by archaeologist are the wonders of the past.
The church of Qalb Lawzeh was from the very beginning an important centre entrusted to spread knowledge and human teachings among the worlds peoples.
The originality and simplicity of the architectural design of the church, the wall surrounding it and the columns in the middle of its courtyard in addition to the altar and the iconstatsis and the dome which bear wonderful decorations take visitors back to the glorious past where زeternal happinessس is one among many meanings.
Every stone in the church tells its own story; carvings and inscriptions show chapters of Syriaصs history; monuments and sculptures mirror the genius of Syrian artists and their clever hands which created both material and spiritual treasures.
