www.allAfrica.com In the first months of 2007 Tunisian tourism has achieved a 10% increase in revenues, said Minister of tourism Mr Tijani Haddad.The announcement was made during a press point held in Tunis on Thursday.
The Minister said that the country expected to generate some 3 billion dinars worth of revenues during the year.
The Minister also stressed the importance of the upgrading of Tunisia's hotel units which is now reaching its final phase. Touching on the issue of the promotion of Tunisia 's tourism, the Minister said that this year the country had launched a large scale advertising campaign on major television channels such as CNN, BBC World and LCI. The campaign which took place during May 2007, will first be evaluated before being renewed, he announced.
Mr Haddad, also announced the forthcoming holding in June 2007 of the Executive Council of the International Tourism Association, whom Tunisia is currently chairing for the second time.
The Council which will take place at the sea side resort of Yasmine Hammamet from June 12 to 16, will be attended by 350 representatives from 87 countries. |
