www.all Africa.com Yasmine Hammamet, the greatest tourist village in Africa , will host two major events from June 10 to June 15, 2007 . The first is the international forum of parliamentary representatives and local authorities dubbed "Representatives and local authorities: the decision makers in 21 st Century tourism strategies", while the second will consist in the 80 th session of the executive council of the International Tourism Organization (ITO).
The reason behind the choice of Tunisia in hosting such event lies in the importance it grants to tourism, the country's second major economic activity. Moreover, Tunisia is currently chairing the International Organization of Tourism.
More than 500 prominent personalities including ministers of tourism, parliamentary speakers, representatives, mayors, as well as high ranking officials, from many countries will take part in the workshops.
The main items on the agenda will hinge around the development of tourism, its future trends, its impact on local economic progress, innovation and sustainable development as well as exchange and coordination between various countries.
The international forum will be preceded by the meeting of the executive council of the ITO, which will take place on June10, 2007. |
