www.allAfrica.com More Russian tourists are increasingly lured by Tunisia 's golden beaches and its rich cultural and historical assets. Recent figures show that in 2006, some 120,000 Russian tourists have visited Tunisia . It is estimated that in 2007 the number will increase between 10 and 15%.
Ways of further boosting the number of Russian tourists in Tunisia , were evoked by Tunisia 's minister of tourism, Mr Tijani Haddad during a recent work visit to the MITT 2007 tourism Salon in Moscow .
The Salon which gathers some 5000 exhibitors from more than 100 nations, represents an excellent platform to promote Tunisia among Russian tour operators and holiday makers.
In this respect Mr Haddad announced the launch as of the first week of April of a promotional operation for Russian tourists bound to Tunisia .
The minister also called on Tunisian tour operators established in Russia to be more enterprising in their action given the quality of the Tunisian tourist product.
After giving a brief overview of the diversification of Tunisia 's tourism, Mr Haddad, said that apart from Saharan, cultural tourism and spa tourism, beach tourism still represents the major attraction for visitors in Tunisia .
The Minister also held talks with his Russian counterpart, as well as many Russian tour operators including Mr Alexander Aroutunov, the CEO of 'Intourist' and Mr Dimitri Chevtchenchouk, the CEO of 'Biblio-Globus'. |
