UAE Urged To Prepare For Chinese Tourists

China is set to provide the largest growth in outbound tourism with over 100 million Chinese tourists expected to travel per year by 2020. According to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai itself received 68,272 Chinese tourists in 2007, an increase of 48% over 2006.
More disposable income and more relaxed political restrictions means that Chinese tourists are interested and ready to explore new destinations other than regions in Asia, and the UAE’s tourism industry needs to prepare for this large influx of tourists. Now in its fourth year, COTTM’08 is the only business-to-business event in China focused purely on outbound travel. The exhibition, taking place on 14-16 April 2008 in Beijing, is a perfect opportunity for UAE’s tourism boards and private companies to learn more about China’s outbound tourism trends and to meet China’s key outbound tour operators and travel agents. The Government of Dubai, China Globalwide Travel & Tourism, Emirates Airline, Gulf Oasis Tourism and Etihad Airlines have already booked their stand at COTTM 2008. The event will welcome over 2,000 Chinese tour operators, travel agents and other travel trade professionals as well as 400 Chinese hosted buyers interested in sourcing outbound destinations and services for Chinese travellers. COTTM’08 provides the essential platform for international destinations and private companies to gain new contacts with the booming Chinese travel industry. According to past exhibitors Emirates Airlines: “COTTM provides us with an unrivalled platform for introducing Emirates Airlines' product. The event is very successful and we regard this business-to business model as greatly beneficial for all our current and potential business partners”
