Photos taken by the people of Bam to celebrate their achievements one year after the earthquake will be on display at the Spitz Gallery, 109 Commercial Street, London, E1 6BG from November 22nd to November 28th in a exhibition: A Day in the Life of Bam.
A year after an earthquake registering 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the town of Bam, leaving more than 26,000 people dead, 75,000 left homeless, and an ancient city of 2,500 years, destroyed, photographer Nevil Mountford travelled to Bam, to explore and document how local residents are rebuilding their lives.
In conducting the project, 65 people were asked to photograph images that express where they live; their family; favourite place in Bam; the one thing that represents Bam to them and a self-portrait. This exhibition displays their pictures.
