Tehran Times 26 September, 2004 The director of the Cultural Heritage Department of Maragheh, Naser Zavari, announced that over 10,000 tourists have visited the Ilkhanid Museum and other historical sites of Maragheh over the past six months.
He added that 194 of the tourists were foreigners.
Zavari said the foreign tourists were from Japan, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, India, Switzerland, and South Korea.
He went on to say that the tourists also visited the Mausoleum of Ohadi Maragheh’i, the Mehr Temple, the Maragheh Observatory, the Red Dome, Ghafarieh, and the Round Tower.
The city of Maragheh is one of the 10 cultural and historical cities of Iran with 250 historical monuments. Maragheh has a population of 250,000 and is located south of Tabriz in East Azarbaijan Province. |
