Tehran Times 16 May, 2004 Susa Museum will re-open in late May, the director of the Susa Cultural Heritage Department announced.
As one of the world’s most prestigious museums displaying ancient scripts, Susa Museum has been closed since 1997 for restoration and the building of new security facilities.
“The museum has also been equipped with a new lighting system, decorations, and counters,” said Mahdi Qanbarzadeh.
The museum is located at the Dariush Castle in Susa, northwest Khuzestan Province. The mausoleum of the prophet Daniel (AS) and Chogha Zanbil Ziggurat are other ancient sites in the region.
“Tourists visiting the ancient sites have reproached us because of the museum being closed,” Qanbarzadeh pointed out.
The museum houses stones, bricks, statuettes, enameled coffins and vessels on which ancient scripts have been written. The relics date back to 5,000 B.C. |
