While just one year has passed since its inauguration in Tokyo’s Metropolitan Art Museum with presence of Prince Nikata, its is estimated that the exhibition of Glory of Persia have succeeded in attracting some 700,000 visitors during its tour to four Japanese cities including Tokyo, Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka.
Pointing out that the exhibition has not finished yet and Osaka would be the last city which would host Glory of Persia, Mohammad Reza Kargar, director of Iran’s National Museum, told CHN: “Based on statistics, during its travel to four Japanese cities, the exhibition has been visited by approximately 80,000-120,000 individuals in each city. However, considering the 6 million population of Osaka city and the appropriate place of Osaka’s History Museum where is currently hosted Glory of Persia, it is estimated that the number of visitors would surpass 700,000.”
He further added that Osaka History Museum is located next to world heritage site of Osaka Samurai Palace, which attracts more than 10,000 visitors everyday during summer holidays. Therefore, it is predicted that the exhibition will be highly welcomed during its stay in its last station in Japan.
Explaining that the organizers of Glory of Persia have planned the time for holding the exhibition in each of Japanese cities very cautiously and systematically according to the tourism seasons of the cities, Kargar further said that it was the main reason for the success of the exhibition during its tour in Japanese cities.
“For example the Glory of Persia was held concurrent with winter festival of Sapporo, and then it was held in Fokuoka concurrent with cherry blossom festival of this city and summer is the best time for holding the exhibition in Osaka. All these programs were well coordinated between us and the organizers of the exhibition,” added Kargar.
The exhibition of Glory of Persian has been hold by TOEI Company, one of the largest film producing companies in the world, Asahi newspaper and by support of Japan’s Royal Family. According to authorities of this exhibition, Glory of Persia is the biggest Iranian cultural exhibition which has ever been held in Japan, during which the magnificent of Persian art and civilization has been shown.
Some 210 unique historical relics belonging to the 5th millennium BC to the end of Sassanid dynastic era in 651 AD were selected from four Iranian museums of Reza Abbasi, Azarbaijan, Persepolis, and Iran’s National Museum to be displayed in exhibition of Glory of Persia in Japan.
