“Abasak Island is one of the tourism destinations of Boushehr province which attracted a large number of tourists every year. That is why we have selected this area for establishing the Persian Gulf museum in 1400-hectare area,” said Mohammad Dashti, director of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Department ot Boushehr province.
Dashti further explained that more than 9 million US dollars have been considered by Iran’s Management and Planning Organization for this project.
The decision for establishing the Persian Gulf museum came following the using of an alternative name of Arabic Gulf for Persian Gulf by National Geographic in its eight edition Atlas of the world released in 2004, which evoked the emotions of million Iranians both inside and outside the country.
Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization is determined to call an international competition for designing the plan of the museum. Folkloric and cultural traditions of Iranian southern province will be displayed in this museum. |
