http://eng.chtn.ir/ Intensive studies have led to discovery of the biggest Parthian sites in Sistan and Baluchestan province on the eastern foothill of Taftan Mountain .
CHTN- ''Studies were conducted under the supervision of Hussein Moradi for registration of the site and historical hills of Sistan and Baluchestan,'' deputy chairman of Conservation and Restoration Department of Sistan and Balochestan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Hussein Sarhadi said.
The site is called `Firoozabad IV' and has been divided into two areas of residential building and cemetery, he added.
Graves have been built based on Zoroastrian methods: After a Zoroastrian dies, instead of being buried under the ground, his or her body is left naked and exposed atop the "Tower of Silence'' so that vultures and other birds of prey devour the dead flesh, he noted.
Sistan and Baluchestan province due to good weather in Taftan region in course of history has been a habitant center of various tribes. |
