www.thegreatsilkroad.com Latest excavations in the city of Rafsanjan in Kerman province led into identification of 190 historical sites and monuments dating back to various periods of Iran's history. Tal-e Sarnegoun Hill dating back to the Parthian dynastic era (248 BC–AD 224) is the most ancient discovery among these 190 historical sites
. The majority of findings in mountainous areas date back to the Sassanid dynastic era (224-651 AD), while some historic evidence from the post-Islamic era, mostly belonging to Qajar (1787-1921 AD) and Pahlavid (1925-1979 AD) dynasties, were identified in the plain. In addition, some ancient cemeteries belonging to the Temurid period (1370-1506 AD) and Safavid Empire (1501-1736 AD) have also been identified during these excavations. As a result of these excavations the Iranian scientists compiled the archeological map of Kerman province and identified the region's historical sites to be registered in the list of Iran's national heritage |
