www.tehrantimes.com Chinese cultural officials have asked the National Museum of Iran (NMI) to stage the exhibition “The Glory of Persia” at the Forbidden City in Beijing.
“This request was made during the recent talks on the expansion of cultural exchanges between Iran and China,” NMI curator Mohammadreza Kargar told the Persian service of CHN on Monday.
“The Glory of Persia”, displaying 210 artifacts dating from the 5th millennium BC to the end of the Sassanid era (226–651 CE) from the National Museum of Iran, the Reza Abbasi Museum, and the Azarbaijan and Persepolis museums, opened at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum this month.
“Due to the fact that ‘The Glory of Persia’… is a ready package, they want it to go to China after the Tokyo showcase,” Kargar said.
One of Japan’s top five newspapers, Asahi, and the country’s leading motion picture company Toei are sponsoring the exhibition, which runs until October 1. It will then travel to Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Osaka, and shortly afterwards the exhibition is also scheduled to be held in South Korea. |
