A carpet tableau entitled “Dialogue Among Civilizations” was recently completed by Iranian artist Farahnaz Iranpur in Baft, Kerman Province.
The 1 x 1.5 meter tableau in which forty colors were used took three years to complete.
Images of the Ka’ba, Beit-ul-Moqaddas, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, the map of Iran, the holy name of Imam Ali (AS), and the word Allah, which was stitched inside the sun, are woven on the top of the carpet.
The margin of the carpet includes the large columns of Persepolis, images of Italian and Greek architecture, the pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal of India, and a portrait of President Mohammad Khatami.
The phrase “I come from proud Iran” and the flags of over fifty countries are on the bottom of the carpet.
Two images of the earth, a sword as the symbol of war, and the year 2001 as the symbol of the Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations are seen on the tableau. The artist has devoted all her efforts into conveying the message of peace and friendship envisioned for all civilizations. |
