Islamic Tourism: Mohammed Bokreta: The Arab tent was a major attraction in Algiers, the current Arab Cultural Capital.
The tent portrayed the very simple life that our forefathers once led happily. It came under the patronage of Mr. Abdel Aziz Bouteflika under the direct organisation of the Culture Ministry and the National Office for Culture & Information.
Fifty folkloric groups and 136 other artistic groups took part in this event in the broad esplanade of Riadh Al Feth in Al Madania, Algiers. A total of 23 Algerian poets and eight Arab poets were also present. Lectures and meetings were duly animated by 20 imminent Arab doctors and professors as well as 21 Algerian doctors.
The theme of the Arab tent reminded people about their rich and prosperous past while at the same time drawing attention to the present disillusioned and nerve-breaking أ¢â‚¬إ“modernأ¢â‚¬آ way of life.
The visit to the tent was a nostalgic moment. Many were eager to a return to this simple way of life. The tent was also a reminder of Bedouin values which should be passed on to future generations. A rich and glorious should never be forgotten.
