Ministry of Culture Claims Zaimoglu Mansion
|
|
www.zaman.com The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has taken responsibility for the historical Zaimoglu Mansion, where critical decisions were taken in the Independence War of Turkey, located in Sivrihisar near Eskisehir.
The Ministry called for tenders to restore the building, which is almost destroyed. Zaman highlighted the sorry state of the mansion on November 1 under the headline: "Historical Mansion which hosted the First Council of Ministers, is Being Destroyed". The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has taken action after the news that restoration had been abandoned due to financial problems.
The owner of the Cihan Restoration Company, Kayhan Seyrek, who is carrying out the restoration, said that they had to interrupt the restoration because of disinterest and added: "After Zaman put the matter on the agenda, we applied to the Ministry of Culture and
Tourism with the support of Eskisehir deputy Fahri Keskin. We have received positive results. Bids have been opened for the restoration projects. We expect to carry out the general repairs after projects are prepared."
