Amman-Motaz Othman
Cuba, Armenia, India and Romania were just some of the countries with stands at the East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism fair held in Istanbul at the end of February. Arab and Middle Eastern states also took part.
The fair was held under the auspices of Ekin and Tuyap with support from Turob (Turkey Hotel Association ). Turkey promoted tourist sites throughout the country as well as its hotel chains. It staged another exhibition at the same time directed towards the local hotel industry to ensure Turkish participation.
Lavish hospitality was not the prerogative of the Arabs. The Cubans hosted a dinner at the Dedeman Hotel, with Cuban music and a film about tourist attractions on the Caribbean Island.
The fair was opened by the Minister of Tourism and Culture Mr Erkan Mumgu. The representative of Islamic Tourism magazine was well received and the publication was promoted among all the exhibitors.
