British Muslim Delegation Returns From Turkey

www.fco.gov.uk British Muslim delegates who were visiting Turkey met with Foreign Office Minister, Bill Rammell, on 18 November.
Speaking after his meeting with the delegates, Bill Rammell said:
"I met British Muslim delegates returning from their visit to Turkey. We discussed the UK's strong and long-standing support for Turkey's accession to the EU. We agreed that UK support - at both the government and non-government level - is a positive message which needs to be heard loud and clear in Muslim communities in the UK and overseas".
The delegation visited Turkey from 10 - 14 November as part of a series of British Muslim delegations taking place throughout the year. The FCO funds regular visits to the Muslim world by prominent British Muslims.
The aim of Projecting British Islam is to provide a platform for British Muslims to challenge misconceptions overseas about the reality of life for Muslims in Britain - by showcasing the integral role Muslims play in British society.
This undermines a key part of the extremist narrative overseas that the UK and the West is engaged in a War with Islam.
The programme strengthens partnerships between British Muslims and communities overseas leading to grassroots follow-up initiatives.
