"The figure is 88.77 percent higher than the number for the same period last year," it added.
The report said that only in June 2005, the number of Iranian tourists arriving in Turkey rose by 64.92 percent to 87,745.
In the first six months of 2005, some 8,558,834 tourists visited Turkey with Iran having a share of 4.57 percent of the total.
The report further stated that in the first six months of 2003, some 166,996 Iranian tourists visited Turkey and this figure rose by 23.98 percent to 207,048 in the same period in 2004.
In the first six months of 2005 the number of Iranian tourists rose by 88.77 percent to 390,849.
The number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey rose by 27.22 percent in general in the first six months of 2005, according to the report.
Iran ranked sixth in terms of the number of tourists visiting Turkey after Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Britain, the Netherlands and France.
In general, the number of Iranian tourists arriving in Turkey rose by 26.43 percent to 628,726 in 2004.
In 2004, 17,517,610 tourists visited Turkey, showing a 24.86 percent growth compared to the figure for 2003. |
