The 9th East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (Emitt) was held in Istanbul between 24-27th of February 2005. I arrived there by Turkish Airlines and participated in most of the activities.
Many tourism ministries held press conferences, such as the ones hosted by Indonesia, Greece, Turkey, Sharja, Cuba and Malaysia. There were many entertainment and cultural activities, such as a Turkish dinner and two folkloric evenings by Indonesia and Cuba.
A film was shown by the Board of Tourism in Sharja, which was attended by the ambassador of the UAE in Turkey, Khalid Al-Ghaith, as well as Islamic Tourism. The film highlighted the attractions of Sharja with emphasis on cultural and environmental tourism, as well as shopping. The head of the board, Mr. Mohammad Al-Noman, mentioned some numbers revealing an increase in hotel nights in Sharja, which reached about 1.5 million, and an increase in the number of museum visitors which reached half a million.
