In a search of a villa in Beykoz, Istanbul, the Istanbul Police Department Financial Unit team seized 363 artifacts, said to be highly valuable.
The Financial Unit team had received information about numerous historical pieces obtained from excavations in various cities in Central Anatolia being taken to Istanbul. And after 2,5 months on the trail, police finally arrested Didem Capa at a villa in Beykoz, where the artifacts were being kept. The suspect is Ahmet Fevzi Capa's daughter.
The 363 pieces were determined to be from various periods, ranging from the Stone Age to Ottoman era: from as far back as 3000 B.C., the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Persian, Hellenistic, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. Together, they are said to be worth billions of dollars. Among the unique pieces is a golden king's crown. Capa was questioned by the financial Unit and sent to Beykoz Court.
