The inaugural flight of Tunisian Airlines landed in Bahrain from Tunis last week. An official ceremony was held at Bahrain International Airport to welcome the weekly service, which is expected to further boost bilateral travel and trade links.
The flight will be operated on a state-of-the-art Airbus A319 aircraft.
The ceremony, held under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister and adviser to the Prime Minister on civil aviation affairs Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, was attended by Civil Aviation Affairs Under-Secretary Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud, Tunisian Transport Minister Abdulraheem Al Zuwari and Tunisian Ambassador Khalid Al Zaitoony among others.
Capt Al Gaoud said this was a very important moment in furthering the links between the two countries.
He said the Civil Aviation Affairs would provide all the necessary support to the airline to make its operations to Bahrain a success.
Capt Al Gaoud said the launch was part of the Bahrain government's open skies policy which encouraged more and more airlines to fly to the country.
Later in the evening, Tunisian minister and ambassador hosted a reception at the InterContinental Regency Hotel, Manama, to mark the occasion. |
