General View

The Kingdom of Bahrain is an archipelago of low lying island located in the Arabian Gulf of the eastern shore of Saudi Arabia. Frequently called the Pearl of the Arabian Gulf, Bahrain has a history of more than 5,000 years of civilisation, from the mists of time to a vibrant present under a stable and prosperous government. Bahrain is the site of immortal Dilmun, religious centre to Summerians, Babylonians and Assyrians, as dramatic excavations prove. Subsequent visitors include Greeks from the time of Alexander the Great, Portuguese, Omanis and the English. Marvellous old sites and buildings compete with modern office buildings and colourful traditional markets. The climate is hot in summer and mild in winter. From November to April is very pleasant, with temperatures from 15 to 24 degrees centigrade. Temperatures are coolest between December and March when northerly winds prevail. From July to September temperatures average 36 degrees centigrade with high humidity.

Gulf Air joins hands with AMEX to reach over 88 million card members

Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air, in partnership with AMEX, will be offering a 25% discount to over 88 million card members as part of AMEX’s recently launched ‘Destination UAE’ campaign.

Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Karim Makhlouf commented, “Gulf Air is pleased to join hands with AMEX, a world leader in charge and credit card services. This is a ‘win-win’ proposition for both; Gulf Air will have greater exposure to over 88 million AMEX card members worldwide while members can enjoy flying on our brand new aircraft between any Gulf Air network destination and the UAE at an exciting promotional fare.”

“With a wide ranging network and as the Middle East’s largest network carrier, we are well positioned to connect regional and international travellers to the UAE. With over 700 flights per week within the region, 9 daily flights to Dubai, 5 daily flights to Abu Dhabi and 187 regional connections per week through our efficient Bahrain hub, our customers will be able to find a flight easily and in the shortest possible connecting time. I am sure this offer will appeal to AMEX customers while reinforcing Gulf Air’s commitment to the region” Mr. Makhlouf concluded.

This offer is open to customers travelling from anywhere in Gulf Air’s network to Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Valid from 20 October 2011 until 31 March 2012, this promotional offer cannot be used in conjunction with any of the other existing Gulf Air promotions.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.gulfair.com
