In line with the Six Senses' group-wide Social and Environmental Responsibility Fund (SERF), Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay recently hosted seven members of the Oman Dentist Association as part of a two day dental clinic for the local children of Zighy Bay Village.
The Oman Dentist Association included Dr Hamad Al Harthy, senior consultant of dental surgery and president, as well as Dr. Salahudeen Albulushi, senior dental specialist of Public Health and secretary general. They were part of a team who provided sixty children, aged between six and fourteen years, a range of dental services and educated them on how to keep their teeth clean and healthy. The children received check-ups and oral health education including a demonstration of how they should brush their teeth, as well as complementary toothbrushes and toothpaste to encourage them to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Dr Hamad Al Harthy, Senior Consultant of dental surgery and President of Oman Dental Association noted, "We are very pleased that Six Senses has made our visit to the children of Zighy Bay possible. Our service will provide the children of the local community with much needed preventative care and education on oral hygiene. With dental surgery's not easily accessible to these children and awareness on the importance of dental health poor, we hope that our two day dental surgery will be of great benefit to these children."
General Manager, Rochelle Kilgariff, commented, "Here at our Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay, the local community is high on the list of our priorities which is reflected in the many corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives that we have implemented. Whether their purpose is environmental or social in character, we are keen to make possible any activities that will benefit our neighbouring communities."
Other Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay CSR initiatives targeted at the surrounding community include weekly beach cleaning and English language lessons for the children. For further information please visit http://www.sixsenses.com/.
