eTurboNews Oman Air, the country's national carrier, will be launching two new routes to India -- Delhi and Hyderabad-- commencing June 2, announced Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, CEO of Oman Air.
The four weekly flights for Delhi and three for Hyderabad are to meet the heavy rush for the peak summer season.
Oman Air also announced it will increase its weekly services to Kochi from five flights to daily flights.
The new flights will bring Oman Air services to India to 40 weekly flights, up from 30 weekly flights presently, and the number of destinations served in India will increase from four to six.
Flights between Muscat and Salalah will be increased from 17 to 21 weekly services with improved connections for international passengers arriving from AGCC countries and Europe destined to Salalah. The objective of the increased flights is to promote tourism to Salalah and also meet local demand.
“We are also pleased to announce that Oman Air will increase its weekly services to Cairo from two flights a week to daily services, all being non-stop flightsm†Al Busaidy said. “These flights will operate under a code-sharing with Gulf Air as part of the strategic alliance between the two carriers.â€Â
Oman Air will also increase its frequencies to East Africa from four to five per week. Furthermore, all services to Doha (daily), Bahrain (six-weekly) and Kuwait (four-weekly) will operate on a non-stop basis instead of a one-stop basis.
Moreover, all of Oman Air’s services to Dubai are now operated with jet aircraft, following the leasing out of two ATR aircraft to Air Deccan in India.
These enhancements reflect Oman Air’s strategy of serving the regional markets well with non-stop services and a high level of frequencies.
Later on this year, Oman Air will be rolling out its own frequent fliers program and will be launching its e-ticketing and e-booking system through the Internet.
