RIYADH: Elaborate arrangements have been made in the capital to handle the huge number of Umrah pilgrims and ensure that hotels, shopping stores and entertainment parks offer the best services and prices to customers in Ramadan as per the directives of Saudi regulatory authorities. The national carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines has announced 36 flights will operate daily between Riyadh and Jeddah from Monday to help people perform Umrah. "There will be a flight every hour from Riyadh to Jeddah," said Abdul Aziz Al-Hazami, Saudia's deputy director general, in Riyadh on Sunday.
This is in addition to the increase in bus services announced by SAPTCO, which will ease the pressure on the airline. On the other hand, Riyadh's luxury hotels have also announced their Ramadan plans and offers after putting the final touches for iftar (breaking of the fast) and suhur (starting of the fast) functions.
The local Marriott Hotel has promised to offer an incredibly memorable experience during this year's Ramadan by recreating the traditional look of the Middle East.
Khaldoun Hayajneh, Marriott's general manager, said the hotel would offer two attractive themed venues for this year's Ramadan in order to accommodate growing demand. One of the main attractions will be the Mosaic Mediterranean Restaurant, temporarily re-branded as "Ramadan Zamaan," which will offer a lavish buffet for iftar and suhur.
Riyadh's leading ultra-luxury hotel Al-Faisaliah Hotel has set up the spectacular "Fawanees," a huge area with food and fun. The newly refurbished Prince Sultan Grand Hall has been transformed into the splendid Arabesque surroundings of Fawanees.
Grocery stores and food outlets, including fast food chains and restaurants, have also made elaborate arrangements for this occasion. They have all geared up to welcome Ramadan, displaying stockpiles of items that are in demand during the fasting month.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance has cleaned and spruced up about 5,000 mosques in Riyadh alone for worshipers. This is in addition to a large number of mosques prepared for worshipers in the suburbs of the capital. |
