MONTSAME The international organizations, which carry out projects in Mongolia, are searching for ways to develop tourism relying on rural areas.
Representatives from eight project-implementing organizations such as the UN Development Program, the German Technical Cooperation Agency, the VSO and the Dutch Nature protection Project have paid two-week visits to Kazakhstan and Kirghizia.
They studied experiences in connecting herders with those foreign tourists having an interest to become au fait with the nomadic civilization. Delegates of Mongolian herders were also included in the visit compound.
Mongolian professional tourism organizations consider that the tourism, relied on rural areas will be one of the main tourism products of Mongolia.
An Information Center has also been opened in the Mongol Costumes Museum, which was established in Ulaanbaatar in July 2005 with the purpose of protecting and keeping the historic and cultural heritage of Mongolia and collecting the national costumes.
The National Costumes Studies Institute is located in the Museum. The Academy established in November 2003 is running a complex of activities for studying the historic development of the national costumes, supporting designers, and encouraging young people to wear their national costumes. |
