Thousand Year Old Tooth Brushes Found In Mongolia

Travel News Wire The history of the ancestors of the Mongolians, who occupies a specific and concrete position in the history of Central Asia, originates from the Stone and Bronze Ages. The civilization of Mongolians is very unique in terms of its nomadic style; however, the latest archaeological finds from the territory of Mongolia have proved the fact that the ancient Mongolians had rich experiences in creating settlement areas.
The sensational results of archaeological surveys conducted in recent two years by the joint Mongolian-Russian expedition have been introduced to the public. In Dashinchilen soum of Bulgan Aimag, there is the Chintolgoi City ruins of Mongolian Kidan Empire period. The ruins consist of two cultural levels. The excavation, conducted in the ruins, has determined that the Kidan Empire people had also the sedentary civilization.
The archeologists made their first excavation inside of the clay wall of the City ruins. The heating systems of the mud wall were built in different times. The structure of some walls is similar to the structure of the ancient cities of the Far East. Many finds, including ceramic wares, potteries, and ornaments were discovered during the excavation.
The most interesting find was four bone-made toothbrushes created more than 1,000 years ago. In the world history, this kind of toothbrush was found only once from the territory of South Korea. All the above finds were revealed during the surface layer excavation. The lower level has not yet been excavated. |
