AP: Sri Lanka's national carrier SriLankan Airlines said Monday it will expand its services to the Middle East region by adding the holy city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to its destinations.
The airline said it planned weekly flights to Jeddah, its third destination in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh and Dammam, that will commence in the coming weeks.
"Jeddah would be the airline's 51st destination in 28 countries and this would increase to nine the number of destinations in the Middle East, providing greater connectivity between the region and Asia,'' the airlines said in a statement.
The airline added the Indian sea resort destination of Goa with twice-weekly flights in October.
SriLankan Airlines is 40 percent owned and managed by Dubai-based Emirates Airlines. The Sri Lankan government has a 51 percent stake and employees own nine percent. |
