http://www.tourism.gov.ge On the 4-8 October the first championship in aeronautics in Georgia starts off at the picturesque site of Kakheti’s Alazani Valley.
15 teams from Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, United Arab Emirates and Japan are expected to take part in a spectacular and colorful ballooning contest and compete to win the first 3 and 2 special prizes.
In the competition, hot air balloon pilots drop weighted markers from the sky, trying to get the markers as close to a target as possible. The first three prizes are awarded for overall results in accomplishment of tasks.
The special prize is “Kakheti Governor’s Cup” – 100 liter capacity oak wine barrel full of red Kakhetian wine “Saperavi”. To win the trophy, the pilots will be competing in dropping markers into 10 empty wine barrels. Balloons are to start off from the distance of 1 km from the site of targets.
“Black Sea Cup” prize is awarded to the first pilot, who takes off the hoop from a 5 meter high pole. “Golden Fleece”, starched on the hoop, would be trophy of the winner. The alternative to the Fleece is money prize of USED 1000. The winner will be free two choose between the two prize options.
The hot air balloon contest is organized by the National Aeronautics Federation of Georgia; Administration of Governor of Kakheti; The Department of Tourism and Resorts of Georgia, and the Department of Sports. |
