Health Resort Planned For Georgia’s Lake Lisi

www.thegreatsilkroad.com The elaboration of Lake Lisi strategic development plan is being done by investment company "GRDC Group", which involves in the work the leading architects, landscape planners and resort development experts from France, Holland, Great Britain, Denmark and the USA.

Under the project, in the vicinity of Lake Lisi, the tourist health resort will be constructed on the territory of 370 hectares. The cost of the project is estimated at several tens of millions dollars.

The whole idea of Lake Lisi development was called forth by its potential: the unique microclimate of the area and rich nature resources. The lake is located at a height of 800 metres above sea level. The temperature in this area is 4-5 degrees lower than the average temperature in the city. The water in the lake is ecologically clean. On the territory adjoining the lake there is a forest and hydrosulphuric thermal springs whose temperature is 50-60 degrees Celsius. There is also the second, "dry” Saline lake containing therapeutic muds.

Utilisation of Lake Lisi area potential will provide for the development of ecotourism. Alongside with rare species of flora and fauna, this area is a real attraction for birdwatchers as bird migration route intersects the area.

It is planned to link tourist health resort on Lisi Lake and Georgian capital with a highway and a cable-way.
