Tourism in Lebanese witnessed slowing down earlier this summer due to recent political developments but it has started bouncing back. The rate of hotel occupancy increased from 10-12% to 46%, according to the statement made by Mr. Pier Al-Ashqar, head of the Lebanese Hoteliers Association and a consultant to the Lebanese tourism ministry.
The geographical location of Lebanon, its nature and mild climate, in addition to its long civilization heritage and the stable political situation in the last few years, all contributed to Lebanon's high rating as a tourist destination. Lebanon is at the meeting point of three continents with different cultures and tourist attractions. The climate allows skiing in winter in the mountainous region and enjoying the sea side summer time. You can add to that the friendly Lebanese people and their delicious cuisine.
Tourist attractions are numerous in Lebanon in summer, with the mountain area full of famous resorts which attract hundreds of thousands tourists, especially Arabs. The season renews itself yearly with different festivals and celebrations. All this served by a tourism infrastructure that provides all what the tourists desire, as well as the most modern sport, medical and cultural facilities and shopping.
May Aredha, head of Baalbeck Festival, said that the festival will present “Flying Flames”, a show which has been prepared especially for this event by the Canadian artist Debra Brown, during the 7-9th of the current month of July. The festival of Beit Al-Dein for this year will have six music concerts. |
