www.seejapan.co.uk From the 1st July 2007 through to September 2007 a special discount ticket 'JR EAST PASS SPECIAL' is available for travellers to Japan for this limited period for the Northeast region of Honshu as part of a campaign promoting Northern Tohoku as a holiday destination.
The Tohoku region is the large area encompassing the top end of the main island of Honshu; the Northern Tohoku region consists of the three prefectures of Akita, Aomori and Iwate. These three locales offer a wide range of tourist attractions including castles and samurai towns, festivals in all seasons, soothing hot springs, deep clear lakes and refreshing hikes in the mountains. And all within a few hours ride by shinkansen 'bullet train' from Tokyo.
he pass will cover all JR East services including the metropolitan Tokyo area and many other locations in the Tohoku region and central Japan such as Matsumoto, Nagano, Nikko and Sendai. Please take advantage of this special offer to explore Northern Tohoku using JR East's comfortable, speedy and safe rail system. To assist foreign visitors to Japan, JR East has just signed a contract with the AccesRail company which will allow sales of the 'JR EAST PASS' on major GDS ticketing systems beginning 1 June 2007. From that time on it will be much easier for foreign visitors to obtain the exchange order for the pass as they will be able to use any travel agency that has a GDS computer terminal, approximately 150,000 locations worldwide.
