A superb festival introducing Korean culture will be held at Abu Dhabi and Dubai for two days on June 16 and 17, 2010 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the UAE and Republic of Korea and to strengthen partner relations for the future. The event is also arranged to thank the performance introducing traditional Arabic culture and music by the National Folk Performance Group of the UAE which visited Korea to honor the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
For the festival <A Night of Korean Culture>, diverse programs are prepared with such subjects as foods, clothing, shelters and spirit of Korean people, through which the overall Korean culture can be experienced. The festival is regarded as the largest and best cultural event ever performed by a foreign nation in the Middle East. The programs include ‘Korean dress fashion show’ that focuses on the splendid court dress of ancient dynasty, ‘Samgomu’ which is a traditional dance expressing the unique rhythm of Korea, ‘B-boy dance’ that boasts world class performances, ‘Jump’ that visualizes Korean martial art Taekwondo as a story, and ‘Nanta’ which is a fusion performance of percussion instruments that is highly acclaimed globally.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Republic of Korea and the Korean Federation of Construction Industry Societies which will jointly host the Korean cultural night festival expressed their expectation that through this event the 30-year friendship with UAE will be further strengthened and the special relationship may last forever in the future. It is known that many VIPs and distinguished guests from both countries will attend the festival to make this event as a forum of not only cultural but also political, economic and social exchange between the two countries.
This event, where diverse Korean dishes and cuisines will be offered including Bibimbap (a food highly praised by former U.S. President Bill Clinton), will have its opening ceremonies at 8 p.m. on June 16 at Emirates Palace Hotel (for Abu Dhabi), and 8 p.m. on June 17 at Souk Madinat Theater (for Dubai).
