Islamic Tourism Magazine

at the Symposium on Cultural Tourism

New Numbering Style
The publishers and team at Islamic Tourism magazine have expended great effort in terms of technical specifi-cations to bring you a quality journal. Since it is essen-tially two magazines in one (English and Arabic), the publishers have devised an innovative approach to num-bering the pages. It begins with odd numbers for the Arabic version, from the right, and even numbers for the English version, from the left. This new approach will, it is
hoped, be easier for readers of each language to follow. In doing so, we have benefited twice from photographs, different but related pictures being used for each of the English texts and the Arabic.

We hope that the new style of numbering the magazine’s pages will be appreciated by readers.

Islamic Tourism magazine was born at the Symposium on Cultural Tourism, held on 9 - 11 September 2001, in Damascus. The printing press had anticipated time to publish its first issue and send it to the Syrian capital.
The magazine, which was accompanied by its publisher and editor-in-chief, came into light on the first day of the symposium when the participants turned over its pages for the first time. The magazine emerged with dignity and ride, appreciated by everyone present, some regarding its presence and participation as one of the outstanding cultural features of the symposium. We thank God for guarding this new magazine during these difficult and uncertain days.
Despite the sad and shocking incident of 11 September in America, which has both amazed and occupied the minds of people all over the world, appreciation of - and interest in - Islamic Tourism magazine has not waned but rather increased day by day, and the magazine has been distributing throughout the world in bookshops and in markets.
We hope and pray that this magazine will receive assistance and support from the tourism, cultural and human media. The publishers and editors wish to thank everyone who worked and contributed towards producing this exceptional magazine, and are grateful to those who facilitated its presence in
the important international symposium in Damascus, allowing it to be introduced and recognised.

May God Bless One and All.
