Exploring The Convention Market Of South East Europe

www.conventa.info The destination of South-East Europe is increasingly gaining ground in the global convention market  in view of the current financial crisis. The destination possesses the advantage of being affordable but of high quality, having a scent of mystery while being a short travelling distance to key markets. Thus, the financial crisis can represent a boost for the revealing convention market of South-East Europe.

Indeed, at the 2008 EIBTM trade show 45.2 per cent of hosted buyers and 47.5 per cent of all visitors showed interest in organizing meetings in Eastern and Central Europe. Furthermore, the survey on customs of conference delegates conducted in Slovenia in 2008 revealed that  96.9 per cent of conference delegates are interested in attending meetings held in South-East Europe.

Based on the interest in the region, the Slovenian Convention Bureau started spearheading the integration of convention offers of South-East Europe. It climaxed in the establishment of Conventa -the first exhibition for meetings, events and incentive travel in South-East Europe.

Conventa will bring together 120 key providers of convention activities from South-East Europe as well as 150 hosted buyers or event organizers from across Europe. It  will enable networking and building of business contacts and will provide information about the main trends in the meetings industry in South-East Europe.

Conventa will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 22 to 23 January 2009. It will be organized by the Slovenian Convention Bureau, in cooperation with the Slovenian Tourist Board, Ljubljana Tourist Board and Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.
