www.chnpress.com Youssef Salouji, the South African Ambassador to Tehran, believes that due to lack of accurate information, Iranians think that South Africa is an expensive country to travel to. Therefore, the South Africa Embassy in Tehran is determined to arrange some training classes for Iranian travel agencies and tour guiders to make them familiar with South Africa tourism attractions.
Salouji believes that travel agencies can arrange tours with appropriate prices for Iranian tourists to give them the opportunity to visit the attractions of South Africa and get acquainted with its culture.
According to the South African Ambassador to Tehran, South Africa has became a tourist destination since 1994 after the collapse of the apartheid regime in this country. “The government is looking at the tourism industry as a positive source of income which has the potential to promote the national production and create job opportunities,” said Salouji.
“Last year a team consisted of South African movie directors and actors came to Iran and in return a team of Iranian movie directors and actors attend the Durban film festival. We also arranged a painting competition with the subject of “Africa from my point of view” and “South Africa from my point of view” for Iranian students. Iran’s Embassy in South Africa arranged the same competition for South African students and three to ten of the best entries will be invited to Tehran to visit the tourism attractions of Iran,” he added.
