www.visitmorocco.org Mountains, desert, oases and the sea welcome visitors to Morocco. Nature is expressed in all its forms, in tune with the seasons. Over thousands of kilometres of coastline stretching along the Atlantic and the Mediterranean , nature is generous and there are many parks and natural reserves.
There is, for example, the park of the mouth of the Souss and Massa oueds next to Agadir which provides an ideal ecosystem for flamingos, cranes and bald ibise. Next to the Mediterranean , the magnificent natural reserve of the mouth of the Moulaya is also a paradise for birds.
In the hinterland stands the Atlas culminating at 4167 m . As visitors approach this mountain range, the landscape becomes greener, the atmosphere is cooler. Water skiing is possible in winter and not so far away, in Marrakech, it is warm enough to swim in outdoor pools!
Marrakech and Ouarzazate are the gates of the desert. Great expanses and superb dunes of orange sand like those of erg Chebbi which can reach 150 h high greet visitors. This calm and serene place is dotted with oases that rise up like mirages in a rocky landscape. They offer a taste of paradise and coolness through their lush vegetation that sharply contrasts with the surrounding desert!
In the deep south, there is Dadès or Drâa gorges, with their remarkable walls.
Morocco is a unique destination for all lovers of nature. |
